An achromatic lens can be defined as a lens which is made by a combination of two different types of lenses carrying different focal powers in a manner such that the images formed by the light of both the combined lenses are free from chromatic aberration or achromatism. 

An achromatic lens or Apochromat is a lens designed to minimize chromatic aberration and spherical aberration. It belongs to the achromatic lens group. The most common form of achromatic lens is the double lens, which is made of two different types of glass with different dispersion capacities. The two lens elements are combined so that the chromatic aberration of one is offset by the chromatic aberration of the other.
 

Achromatic Lens is consists of positive low-index Crown Glass lens element cemented to negative high-index Flint Glass lens element.
