LiTaO3, or lithium tantalate, is a crystalline material known for its unique physical and optical properties. It belongs to the family of ferroelectric and piezoelectric materials, which means it can generate an electric charge in response to mechanical stress (piezoelectric effect) and exhibit spontaneous electric polarization that can be reversed by an external electric field (ferroelectric effect).
