Prism periscope
A periscope is an optical instrument that uses a system of prisms, lenses or mirrors to reflect images through a tube. Light from a distant object strikes the top mirror and is then reflected at an angle of 90 degrees down the periscope tube.
Why prism periscope is better than mirror?
Perhaps one of the biggest advantages is that the prism reflects by total internal reflection, which is very close to 100% reflection whereas the metalized mirror might achieve 95 or 96% reflection. ... Prisms are inherently robust whereas mirrors are only robust if they are made very thick.
