2. Physical properties: Zinc selenide is a yellow crystalline powder, insoluble in water, non hygroscopic, isotropic in material, and free from birefringence. Its density is 5.26g/cm ³, with a Mohs hardness of about 2.5 and a Knoop hardness of 120. The texture is relatively soft and prone to scratches.
3. Chemical properties: The chemical properties are relatively stable and it is a chemically inert material, but it easily decomposes and emits harmful hydrogen selenide gas when exposed to acid.
